LITTLE ROCK - In 2009, it's certain that state Sen. Kim Hendren, R-Gravette, will propose a law to require people operating motorcycles to wear helmets, he said.

A constituent sent Hendren a helmet intended to cover so much of an operator's head that it might be too restrictive. But he still believes requiring a helmet is a good idea, and one he'll work to enact into law, Hendren said.

"I wouldn't like that one (the helmet from his constituent ), but... I'm going to (offer the proposal ) anyway," Hendren said.

Hendren, a longtime state lawmaker, has offered similar legislation in the past. In 2007, Hendren's "helmet"bill, Senate Bill 40, would have required motorcycle operators or passengers to wear a helmet and goggles, glasses or face shields. Senate Bill 40, if approved, would have returned Arkansas to the ranks of states with motorcyclehelmet laws, Hendren said in 2007.

    Nothing
    scares me
    more
    than
    someone
    who knows,
    with certainty,
    what is right for me
